When we are being born to a certain family, we think we need to take our family’s burdens – beliefs, limitations, fears, wishes… However, the family is only the starting point of our soul. It's indeed the place that the soul wanted to start to learn it's lessons, but it doesn’t mean it’s the true destiny. It doesn’t mean we don’t have a freedom of choice. It doesn’t mean we are not meant for greater stuff. Moreover, the fact that we were born into a certain family with certain criteria and certain charecterizations actually show us how much we need to break the cycle. The cycle is a pattern of generations after generations, or just one that was learned once and kept going. But it’s not ours, not really.
True, the family can bring good things, and it’s not contradicting. I want to refer more to breaking away from social norms that don’t feel right for us. At the end, we are not the character we are holding here. We are God in human body. And as Neville said:
God becomes man, that man may become God. So, that’s God’s gift. What greater gift could He give me than Himself? Well, He gives me the ultimate − that’s Himself. So He dies by becoming me. He has to empty Himself of His glory to take upon Himself the limitation of this slave, and He wears this slave throughout unnumbered generations, for I didn’t begin in my mother’s womb, and I do not end in the grave. You and I began unnumbered generations ago. But at a moment in time predetermined by Him Who gave Himself for us, we erupt, and erupting, we find that we are He!
So, God becomes as I am, with all my weaknesses − all my limitations, that I may become as He is, without weakness, without limitation − free beyond measure. And without this Pattern in us, it could not work. He could not mold us from without, and make us what He desires to make us. He had to enter us. So, we are the grave in which God is buried.-Neville Goddard, The Pattern Man, 1968
We have limitations because like this we can wake up to who we truly are. God couldn’t get into a human body without weaknesses and limitations, and he couldn’t wake up without them. And so I see it with the limitations of our surroundings. Our family puts difficulties on us, limitations, blocks, beliefs etc so we can awake. So we can understand that all of this means nothing about us – and it is only our way to know the truth. If we want it, of course. Some people will close their eyes and will refuse to understand it in this lifetime, and that’s ok. But the others will only learn and grow.
Be the change
If you are reading this post, it means something in you is awakening and believing in it even just a little. From my own experience, it's important to listen first and foremost to ourselves. Nobody can tell us what is right and what is wrong. Yes, people (and especially our family) can tell us things from their personal experience, from their limited point of view. But they have no way of knowing what your soul is desiring to do, be and experience.
We will never know if something is a mistake or not if we won’t try and experience. Of course, nothing is really a mistake, just an attempt that will make us more and more precise to our inner truth. I really believe that even when things went in the wrong way, it was a part of the path to the thing we really wished for.
Personally, I was never devoting myself with what my family believed in. I was always out of the ordinery girl, I was always doing things differently. True, I had periods in my life that I was doing things because I have been told they were the right choices, but usually it was not for long. It took me time to find my voice, my truth. But when it happened, when I understood what I really want, I continued with total belief that this is the way I need to take no matter what will happen. Good or bad, it’s a part of my story.
No, it’s not always easy to be the change. It requiers a lot of strength (even if the fear is around) and inner listening. Every time that something was about to happen or a change was coming and getting closer, even if I was scared and even if I was hearing a lot of objections and negativity, I got into meditation and asked myself if it’s the right thing to do. And every time I was listening to myself – magic was happening. Stuff was going the best way possible. And it was never disappointing me. Because this inner knowing, intuition, higher self, whatever you name it, knew the truth. And this truth cannot reveal itself in the 3D world by people or by family members.
Being the change does not mean we will never be scared or fear anymore – but believeing in ourselves and in what we want, and be sure that whatever needs to happen, happens and will happen.
Inner listening
So how are we going to be more attentive to ourselves? How can we know what our soul really wants in this life?
1. Meditation in which we will connect to our body and our inner feelings. When we are being in the present moment, in the now, we can understand what shrinks us (and doesn’t serve us) and what expands us, what excites us and what turns us off. In theta waves meditation for example we can connect to our higher self, God, to who we truly are, and ask questions. Questions that can help us understand the current suituation or our next step etc.
2. Intuitive writing – writing is one of the soul’s ways to speak, especially when we let ourselves write everything that pops in our mind. We can also answer some questions, but the best way is to let the hand write without interruption. Daily writing can help us understand our path, our desires and our inner truth.
3. Feeling the emotions while they arise. Not to supress them, but giving them space. Asking ourselves what is the reason that something pressed our buttons. These questions and listening to what arises when it’s hard are the key to understand who we are.
4. Alone time – sometimes we cannot let the phone aside. Sometimes we think that we need to be with people all the time to distract ourselves. But the truth is sometimes all what we need is five minutes, half an hour, an hour without any distractions. Just us and this moment. Stuff can come up, and it’s great, as long as we give it some space and let ourselves being attentive and compassionate towards ourselves.
In addition to all of these, I reccomend reading the book “ The Power Of Now” by Eckhart Tolle.
